In 1986, Mike Richardson, a comic shop owner in Milwauikie, Oregon launched Dark Horse Comics with the release of the appropriately named Dark Horse Presents, a black and white anthology comic that would change comics forever, and I honestly mean that. Within a few short years, Dark Horse comics would be a force to be reckoned with the comic industry, producing some of the greatest comics the world has ever seen. With mature, compelling stories from some of the greatest comic creators in the world, Dark Horse published an incredible package of graphic storytelling that pushed the comic book medium into new territory. Whether it was licensed properties like Star Wars, RoboCop, Aliens, Predator, and the Terminator. Or creator owned comics from comic legends like Paul Chadwick’s Concrete, John Byrne’s Next Men, Frank Miller’s Sin City, Mike Mignola’s Hellboy, Mike Baron & Steve Rude’s Nexus, Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo, or Eric Powell’s Goon. Dark Horse comics produced the best comic books on the racks. And so I'm here to celebrate that rich 35 year comic publishing history in podcast form!
